Studio Boudoir FAQ

What do I need to bring? Any outfits you want to be photographed in, jewelry, accessories, and some awesome shoes. We recommend, but do not require, a set of white sheets.

How many outfits will I be photographed in? You'll be photographed in 2-4 outfits.

How many photos will I see from my session? We show about 30-50 photos from an average event session.

What if I'm running late to my session? Because we have to schedule sessions back to back most days, we will do our best to accommodate you, but may not be able to.

Can I request specific hair and makeup looks? Absolutely! Your stylist can pull off quite a lot in only an hour. There may be some looks that she can't do, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Can I request specific photographic looks? Absolutely, please schedule a free consultation by calling (509) 396-3800 where we can go over any looks or styles that you are interested in!

Will my photos be on your website? You can let us know about any (or all) photos that you don't want us to use.

Can I request specific retouching? Yes, please do! We strive in our retouching to have an end result that is a slightly perfected version of you, and sometimes it helps a lot if you let us know about any specifics. We'll do our best to follow them.

Are all of your photographers female? Our primary photography team is husband and wife team John and Marcia MacDonald. Unless you hear otherwise, we'll be your photographers.

Is there a limit to the number of outfits I can bring? Try to limit it to just one trip from your car inside. We recommend 3-6 total outfits (head to toe).

Should I bring jewelry and accessories? Yes. If you like jewelry and accessories bring them, all your favorites. If you aren't as in to it, consider bringing a few items and you can decide to wear or not wear them at your session.

Can I bring a friend to my session? Only if they are going to be photographed. We do our best to put friends in back to back sessions so that you each get your time by yourselves in front of the camera but have some overlap between where you can be photographed together.

How do I view my photos? For client privacy all studio boudoir sessions are proofed in the studio.

Can I bring my partner, spouse, boyfriend, or significant other along? Absolutely. While many women have boudoir photography done for themselves, and most are doing it as a surprise for someone, there's a lot of fun to be had by bringing your significant other to your session. They like to participate.

Do you provide food and drinks? We try to have an assortment of snacks and beverages. You are welcome to bring your own.

Do you photograph same sex couples? Washington Sate law requires that we do so. That we even have to answer this question so often saddens me.

The e-mail only mentioned implied-nudes, can I be topless or fully nude? Yes. We offer a full range of boudoir and fine art photography. It's available for anyone who feels comfortable with it.

How long does it take? The actual boudoir session includes about an hour of a professional hair and makeup makeover, and up to one-and-a-half hours of photography. Figure you'll be with us for up to 3 hours.

When is payment due? Payment for your session is due at time of booking. Minimum payment for products is due on your view and sales date.

When will I see my pictures? Your view & sales date will be approximately 2 weeks after your session date.

When will my pictures be ready? Digital products take about a 2 weeks to process from your final payment date. Digital products are often what is given first if there is a time crunch before a wedding, anniversary, or Valentine's Day. Our little black album generally takes 4 weeks to process. It is possible to add a rush fee of $50 and get it in 2-3 weeks. If you wish to upgrade your album to an Italian album, it will take about 8 weeks from your viewing date for that album to process. These albums are handmade outside of Venice, Italy and there is no rush option from this company.

I have a time crunch! What can you help me do? Most of you are doing this as a surprise gift, and we understand. There are some options.
1) We can rush processing of your order for a fee (usually 50% of total order), we have a Mobile Album that is delivered directly to you that is an app that installs on your phone or tablet, with a rush we can get these out in as little as 1 week after final payment.

2) Prints can be rushed and drop shipped from our lab directly to you (saving 3-5 days travel time)

3) Our Little Black Book album has the shortest production time of any of our albums. Many of our clients pick one up to arrive in advance of our hand-made albums.

4) Why wait on a product? We can schedule your view & sales time a time convenient for both of you and your surprise gift can be that they can pick out their favorite photos of you. We recommend opening a bottle of your favorite beverage and snuggling in together.
