This section is mostly to other photographers, but sometimes people just want to know what we shoot with.
This section, like several others, is pending some updates as part of the move. It is just a listing of what we usually use at a wedding (both owned and rented) rather than what all is in the studio... because we have a LOT in the studio. I've done my best to provide Amazon links to each.
Marcia and I each shoot a wedding with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III each and my 5D Mark II is our backup camera.
We shoot almost exclusively Canon L Series lenses.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM (This is an odd lens to carry, but it's sooo light!)
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM (Backup, this lens has a nice range, IS, a nice price point, but some CA and softness issues)
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM (Yes, I'd like the 1.2 but we don't use it enough to justify the price difference).
Einstein 640 Monolight
Vagabond Mini Lithium
Opteka M900 71" 5 Section Ultra Heavy Duty Monopod(Light on a stick!)
Pocket Wizard Plus II tranceivers (discontinued, we are replacing with Plus X as they fail)
PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver (essentially only used with 430EX strobes)
IceLight 2 (Preorder now!)
IceLight Barn Doors
Yongnuo 480LM 5500K LED Light (we like these because they stack)
Bags + More
Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW (honestly mixed feelings on this bag, but I replaced the 200 with the 202... so I do like it)
Photoflex Carry Kit
Think Tank Photo Hydrophobia 70-200 2.8 Rain Cover (Don't forget the Think Tank EP-20 Hydrophobia Eyepiece like I did when I ordered it originally)
Lexar Professional 32GB CF Cards (Lexar has ALWAYS been good to me, replacing 6 cards for free in my career. That only 6 cards have failed in my career also says something)
Lexar Professional 32GB SDHC (Used for almost nothing but sJPEG)
Spider Pro SCS -Single camera System Camera Holster with SpiderPro Large Lens Case, SpiderPro Medium Lens Case, and Spider Monkey Accessory Gear Belt Clips (Marcia uses the Spider system, I use camera straps. She's looking forward to SpiderPro Memory Card Organizer and the new water bottle holder.)
We're almost an entirely Apple shop, iMacs, MacBook Pros, Displays, etc. And a Toshiba laptop that I use at home (and am typing this on) to encourage me not to take work home. (These product change often, links created March 2015, spec out what you need or contact me for what I recommend.)
We also use an Epson Home Cinema 730HD, 3000 Lumen and Epson Duet 80-Inch Portable Screen when traveling and a very carefully calibrated (often!) VIZIO E550i-B2 55-Inch TV in the studio. (Haven't researched lately, linked what we have and they all work for us but newer, better, cheaper may have come along).
Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive (STBV5000100) (Images are always stored on 3 external drives, one is always offsite).
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB Portable External Hard Drive with Mobile Device Backup USB 3.0 (Black) STDR1000100 (We have a ton of these for things like Time Machine backups, traveling, photo exports, etc.)
Anker® USB 3.0 7-Port Hub (My current USB hub)
1-Foot Extension Power Cable (I love these!)
Mobile Workstations are our desks.
